HELP PROTECT WISCONSIN’S TREES FROM HARMFUL FIREWOOD HITCHHIKERS

Many pests and diseases that harm trees hide under the bark of trees. In fact, some can be there up to two years after a tree is cut down! If your firewood has these threats hiding within it and you move the firewood to a new place, the living trees at your destination are at risk of attack by the pests and diseases that can escape your firewood pieces before they are burned. You can help protect Wisconsin’s urban and woodland trees in one easy step – avoid moving firewood long distances. For more information on firewood movement regulations in Wisconsin, please visit dnr.wi.gov and search “firewood”. Protect the places where you live, camp and play!

Thank you in advance for your help!
