1.     Convey the current knowledge base to the Council as a whole

a. Assemble and evaluate research

                        b. Provide pool of experts for communication.

2.     Identify areas where the existing knowledge base is inadequate. Solicit community on research needs. Research components include invasive impacts, control, basic biology, avenues of introduction, and prioritization of research needs.

3.     Provide scientifically – based guidance to proposals arising from various sectors.
